Girls Basketball Edges New Lexington in Thrilling Season Opener, 40-39

The Wyoming girls varsity basketball team opened its 2025-26 campaign with a dramatic 40-39 victory over New Lexington High School on Saturday, November 22nd in the Lakota West "Test in West" event.

The Cowboys showed poise and resilience after trailing by three points at halftime, tightening up their defense and controlling the tempo as the game wore on. Wyoming outscored the opposition in the third quarter, 10-5 to take the lead into the final quarter.

Morgan Thomas led the offense with 16 points, and Ginny Cordes finished the game with 13 points.

Down the stretch, the Cowboys made key stops and timely baskets to hold off a late New Lexington push.

Wyoming (1-0) will return to action on Tuesday, December 2nd at home against Deer Park.
